BIOGRAPHY
Equally inspired by the likes of Husker Du, Steve Earle, Rocket from the Crypt, AC/DC, and Roky Erickson (among many others), Melbourne rock band Union Radio blend oz-rock sonics with country-tinged structures.
Consisting of singer/guitarist Leigh Stone (ex- Darkest Heartstrings), singer/drummer Alana Manix Stone (ex- Darkest Heartstrings), bassist Adam Doherty (ex- Paper Planes), the band was formed in 2009.
Despite ostensibly being part of a scene that values aggression and noise as much as hooks and melody, Union Radio show striking pop sensibilities. Vocals are lushly layered yet snarl-ridden, with lyrics that manage to find a beauty in the mundanities of suburban melodrama. Punctuated with screaming garage rock guitar and the group's powerful rhythm section, Union Radio are propelled into full-throttle rock’n’roll.
The three piece plan on releasing their debut EP full of saccharine treasures early 2010.
